Winter Cooking Activity for Kids: Soup Restaurant
Here are ChopChop, we celebrate healthy and delicious food everyday. We love when there’s even more reason to celebrate, with a wacky, fun food holiday. January has many food holidays and with cold weather outside around most of the country, there’s even more opportunity to stay in and celebrate by cooking a nice, warm meal. We’ll be celebrating all month long and giving you ideas on ways to celebrate with us and of course, some recipes to try with your family!
Today is National Curried Chicken Day. We are just as surprised as you that curried chicken gets its own day, but we probably shouldn’t be since it’s so easy to make and delicious to eat. One of our favorite winter meals is soup, and ChopChop has a great recipe for making your Basic Chicken Soup into a Curried Chicken Soup here.
This soup has to sit on the stove for a while, so you’ll have plenty of time to work on this fun activity with your family. This Soup Restaurant Activity is a great way for kids to stretch their imaginations, come up with new ideas, think about recipe writing, and maybe even try out their recipes.
Pretend you own a soup restaurant. Make a menu listing the different kinds of soups you have with a description of each soup. You can also make a section with different topping options. Draw pictures of the ingredients in each soup. Come up with fun names for your soups and your restaurant.
Send your ideas to info@chopchopmag.org and we’ll share our favorites. We’d love to see what you come up with!
