WHAT WE LOVE: SPIRALIZING

Spiralizing is the art of turning vegetables or fruits into noodles. This process is made simple by an inexpensive kitchen tool called the spiralizer. It works kind of like a pencil-sharpener, and you’re left with noodle-shaped produce.  We love pasta, but spiralizing vegetables (or fruits) is a tasty alternative!

We tested the Excalibur 3-in-1 Food Slicer and made Zucchini noodles with Quick & Easy Tomato Sauce. It was delicious and super easy!  For the noodles, simply add them to a hot skillet with 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat and toss for about 3 minutes. Not only does the food slicer spiralize, but it also slices, curls, and shred!

A spiralizer is also an easy tool to use for making a slaw, like Purple Cabbage Slaw. It’s a great side dish or topping for this month’s ChopChop Cooking Club Challenge—Fish Tacos! Have your joined the ChopChop Cooking Club yet? It’s not too late to join! Sign up at www.chopchopcookingclub.org.

Don’t have a spiralizer? That’s ok! Make Zucchini Ribbons or the Purple Cabbage Slaw by using a vegetable peeler or use a knife and carefully cut into very thin strips.
