Thoughtful Edible Gifts + A Sesame Street Cookbook Giveaway
The season of thanks and giving is here, and with the holidays fast approaching we’ve come up with thoughtful edible gift ideas that are perfect for everyone on your gift list! Edible gifts are the best kind. We love them because they are homemade, thoughtfully packaged, personal, and delicious!
Tell whoever’s lucky enough to be gifted with this deep, dark spread that it’s great on toast or dolloped into plain yogurt. It takes a long time to make because you’re cooking most of the water out of the fruit to make a thick, rich “butter” (there’s no actual butter in it). Depending on the size of the pears, the recipe makes enough to fill five to six 1⁄2-cup jars (you can double the recipe if you like, to make more). Store it in the fridge until you’re ready to give it (it will keep for up to two weeks).
A pot of soup is not the kind of present you can wrap—but a beautifully layered jar of homemade soup mix is! Plus, you can make a lot of presents at once to use up all those beans.
We adapted this recipe from the book Let’s Cook! (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015) by our friends over at Sesame Street. The crackers are so good! Super-seedy (that’s why Big Bird likes them so much) and super-tasty, and surprisingly easy. The only hard part is waiting for them to finish baking after you turn the oven off. Don’t peek!
This month, join ChopChop and Sesame Street for our Holiday Give-away. Enter for a chance to win a one-year subscription to ChopChop, a copy of Let’s Cook (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015), and some essential cooking tools! One winner will be chosen by January 2, 2016.
