Siena Farms Kids’ Share: Week 2
This week, we received our second Siena Farms Kids’ Share and made some great corn-y recipes! ChopChop and Siena Farms have partnered to bring families a weekly farm share for kids that includes about half a dozen vegetables, recipes, activities, and other surprises.
The share for this week included: corn (7 ears of it!), cornmeal, orange pepper, steak tomato, jalapeño, shallots, garlic, cilantro, and mint. We also received a set of measuring cups along with the vegetables. “The three dishes I created from this farm share were all centered around one ingredient: corn! It was fun to see how versatile (and tasty) corn can be!” reflected Abby. Check out what she made here:
- Crusty Cornbread (using cornmeal, fresh corn kernels)
- Double Corn Cakes with Fresh Corn (using cornmeal, fresh corn kernels, cilantro)
- Corn Salsa—similar to ChopChop’s Corny Black Bean Salad (using fresh corn kernels, orange pepper, steak tomato, jalapeño, shallots, garlic, cilantro)
