MEET OUR KIDS ADVISORY BOARD: Ellie

Name: Ellie

Location: New Hampshire

Age and Grade: 13 years old, 8th grade

How I got involved with the ChopChop Kids Advisory Board: I really like the magazine and thought it would be a good opportunity.

Who taught you how to cook? My mother. I always watched my mom cook healthy foods and I hope I can be as good of a cook as she is someday. Now, I use her recipes -she’s my prep chef.

What is something all kids should learn to cook? Stir-fry with rice and veggies.

Have you ever messed up a recipe? What was it and what happened? Yes, crepes. I used whole wheat flour and didn’t sift it. They were too thick.

Do you have any advice for kids just learning to cook and who may be nervous? Have fun and enjoy it! Use easy recipes so you don’t get overwhelmed.

My favorite food is: Broccoli and avocado. (It’s a tie.)

If I were a vegetable or fruit I would be: Raspberry,

What I love about ChopChop is: Recipes are easy and really good.

Something I didn’t used to like to eat, but I do now is: Cauliflower, thanks to ChopChop.

My favorite thing to cook is: Bean chili.

The first thing I ever cooked was: ChopChop granola bars.

My secret ingredient is: Almond milk/sesame oil (it’s a tie).

Some of my hobbies are: Healthy eating, trying new & exotic foods, working out, running, skiing, swimming, spending time with my dogs.

A fun fact about me: I’m a vegan.

What I want to be when I grow up: Business and finance.
