
Fueling up For the Day

Most likely you have heard at least once, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” And like me, you were probably confused about why people skip breakfast. So, I started doing some research about a month ago.
I found out that eating breakfast breaks the overnight fasting period. Fasting means going without food, which is what basically happens during the night when you are sleeping. Eating breakfast also replenishes our glucose (sugar) and other nutrients our body needs to help us stay awake and have energy. Also, the energy you get from eating breakfast helps us do better in school!
Now that you know why you should eat breakfast, here are some ideas of what to eat. Some great options include oatmeal, eggs, fruit, yogurt, and nuts. Some other options I recommend are ChopChop’s Tofu Scramble, Tropical Smoothie, or Layered Yogurt Parfait.
As you can see, eating breakfast is very important for many different reasons. Now I will share a personal experience with breakfast and my brother Ian. Ian does weightlifting in the morning. Before he leaves, he has to eat carbs like cereal, bananas or toast. When he gets home, he has to eat protein such as tuna or chicken. The carbs give him energy and the protein helps him rebuild his muscles. Breakfast for my brother is very important, just like breakfast is important to you.
Before I started cooking with ChopChop, I wondered why breakfast was important or why you use cinnamon and apple pie. I really think ChopChop is opening a door to cooking for so many kids. I would like to thank ChopChop for everything they have done for me and many other children across the world.
