Exercises You Can Do Indoors
Spring showers may keep us from going outside, but it doesn’t mean they have to keep us from moving. Our founding partner, New Balance Foundation, has some great ways to stay fit even if you have to stay inside. Here are five ways to get some exercise without using a lot of space and are just as fun inside your house.
- “Weight” Lifting
You don’t have to have weights in your house to give your muscles a workout. Lift things in your kitchen, like jars, bottles, and even bags of carrots to strengthen your muscles. Want an extra challenge? Try lifting a watermelon!
- Core-Strengthening
You can do planks right on your bedroom floor. Challenge yourself and see how long you can hold a plank for.
- Yoga
Use a towel or mat and do some yoga poses in your family room. Find some free classes online and follow along, or invite over a friend who practices yoga to teach you.
- Jumping Jacks
Clear some space and get your heart moving by doing some jumping jacks. Have a jumping jack contest with your family and see how many you can do.
- Stretch
You don’t need a lot of room to stretch. Keep your muscles flexible by stretching them inside, before and after physical activity.
