White Bean Dip

Serve this delicious treat with French bread, pita chips, carrots, or celery.

Kitchen Gear

Strainer or colander
Food processor (if you have one)
Measuring spoons
Measuring cup
Spatula or large spoon


1 16-ounce can white beans, drained and rinsed with cold water
1 to 2 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped
1⁄4 cup olive oil
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
  pinch salt


  1. With the help of your adult, carefully put the steel blade in a food processor (If you don't have a food processor, you can mash everything using a fork or potato masher. It won't get as smooth but it will definitely be yummy!) Add the white beans, garlic, oil, and lemon juice and turn the food processor on. Process until completely smooth. If you are adding any extra spices, do it now.
  2. Spoon into a serving bowl, cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour and up to 2 days.

Fancy that! If you want to get creative, here are some things to add to this recipe: fresh basil, parsley, cilantro or chives, chopped or pureed olives, chili peppers, chopped shallots, or you can swirl in pesto or olive paste.
