Vegetable peeler
Medium-sized pot
Measuring cup
Tongs or two forks

1 unit orange
2 unit cinnamon sticks
4 cup (1 quart) apple cider or juice

Wash your hands with soap and water, then gather all your equipment and ingredients and put them on a counter.

  1. Use the vegetable peeler to remove long strips of zest (the orange part, not the white part underneath) from half of it.
  2. Put the cinnamon sticks, orange zest, and cider in the pot and put it on the stove. Turn the heat to medium-high and heat until it’s steamy — about 7 minutes. Turn the heat down to low and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Use tongs or two forks to remove the orange zest and cinnamon sticks, then pour the cider into mugs and serve.

“Simmer” means a very gentle boil.
