Waldorf Salad
This is our version of a classic salad that was named for the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City, where it was invented in 1896. It’s crunchy, creamy, juicy, and delicious.

- Cutting board
- Sharp knife (adult needed)
- Measuring spoons
- Measuring cups
- Medium Bowl
- Large spoon
Ingredients
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 1 tart apple, unpeeled, cored, and diced
- 1 cup grapes (any color), halved (or another diced apple)
- 1/2 cup toasted walnuts, coarsely chopped
- 2 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Put all the ingredients in the bowl and mix gently. Serve right away.
Notes
Get creative! Try adding any or all of the following to your Waldorf salad:
- 1 cup fresh, frozen, or canned unsweetened pineapple chunks
- 1 head romaine lettuce, cored and chopped
- ¼ cup raisins or chopped dates
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups baby spinach or kale leaves
- 1 cup diced or shredded cooked chicken
