Toasty Blueberry Smoothie
Toasty, creamy, and tangy — this protein-rich shake tastes a lot like cheesecake! But, unlike most desserts, it’s full of ingredients that will give you lots of energy for your day.

- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoons
- Grater or zester (adult needed)
- Citrus squeezer (if you have one)
- Blender (adult needed)
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
- 1 cup milk or plain yogurt or a combination
- 1⁄4 cup toasted pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Juice and grated zest of 1/2 lemon
- 2 dates
Instructions
- Put all the ingredients in the blender.
- Put the top on tightly. Turn on the blender to medium speed and blend until the mixture is smooth, 30-60 seconds.
- Divide the smoothie equally between 2 glasses and serve right away, or store in a thermos or covered in the refrigerator, up to 4 hours.
Notes
* If you’re allergic to nuts, substitute 1⁄4 cup toasted wheat germ, oats, or sunflower seeds for the pecans.
