Simple Celery Salad


Simple Celery Salad

This is a really easy side dish that makes the most of celery’s crisp texture and bright flavor.

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife (adult needed)
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Medium Bowl
  • Grater
  • Large spoon


  • 1 large bunch celery, including stalks, heart, and leaves, cleaned, trimmed, and sliced (around 4 cups)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Grated zest and juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan or crumbled feta cheese


  • Put all the ingredients in the bowl and mix gently. Eat right away (when it will be at its crunchiest) or cover and refrigerate up to 2 days.


Get creative! Try adding any or all of the following:
  • 1 can tuna (any kind you like), drained
  • 1 can white beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves or chives
  • 2 tablespoons sliced pickled jalapeños or salad peppers (such as pepperoncini)
