Pizza Sliders
Pizza Sliders
This recipe offers the flavors of pizza in a fun-size mini burger. We love the deep, rich tomato flavor that comes from canned tomato paste. If you’ve never used it before, you’re in for a treat!
kitchen gear
- Cutting board
- Sharp knife (adult needed)
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Medium Bowl
- Large spoon
- Large skillet (not nonstick)
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves (or 1 tablespoon dried basil)
- 3 tbsp tomato paste (from a 6-ounce can)
- 1 garlic clove, peeled and chopped
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 pound lean ground beef, turkey, chicken, or pork, or a combination
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 8 mini rolls, split
Instructions
- Put the basil, tomato paste, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper in the bowl and mix well. Add the ground meat and use your clean hands to mix until well combined. Divide the mixture into 8 balls of more or less equal size, then divide each ball in half and flatten each half into a disk.
- For each slider, put about 1 tablespoon mozzarella on one disk and then top with another disk. Seal the edges and form into a patty.
- Put the skillet on the stove and turn the heat to high. Add the sliders to the dry skillet. Cook until well browned, about 5 minutes per side. Put each slider on a bun and serve right away.
