Garlicky Herb Dip

This dip might remind you a little of the best version of ranch dressing. Feel free to add more or less of the herbs to suit your own tastes—or to add fresh ones, if you have any on hand.

Measuring cup
Measuring spoons
Sharp knife (adult needed)
Cutting board
Small bowl
Spoon, for mixing 


1 cup plain Greek yogurt (or ricotta cheese, or a combination)
1⁄2 cup finely chopped fresh Italian flat leaf parsley leaves
2 garlic cloves (minced or put through a garlic press)
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1⁄2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper
1⁄4 teaspoon salt


1. Put everything in the bowl and mix well. Taste the dip. Does it need more herbs or pepper or a pinch of salt? If so, then add it, and taste again.

2. Serve right away, or cover and refrigerate up to 2 days.
