Fresh Pear Smoothie
This fruity smoothie gets a boost of color (and nutrition) from a handful of bright green spinach. Have it for breakfast or a refreshing after-school snack. Kids Advisory Board member Aleeza thought this could be called “Refreshing Pear Smoothie,” and we agree!

- Cutting board
- Sharp knife (adult needed)
- Measuring cups
- Blender (adult needed)
- 2 glasses
Ingredients
- 2 very ripe pears, cored and chopped
- 2 cups baby spinach
- 1 cup water or milk
- dash vanilla extract
- tiny pinch salt
- 4 ice cubes
Instructions
- Put all the ingredients in the blender.
- Put the top on tightly. Turn on the blender to medium speed and blend until the mixture is smooth, 30 to 60 seconds.
- Pour the smoothie into the glasses and serve right away, or pour it into a thermos or lidded cup to take with you.
