Dear Sally:
I hate broccoli, okay? I know it's good for me. I challenge you to make it taste good. Sally says:
My “broc” rocks! Try this tasty recipe. You'll be begging for more!

kitchen gear
- Cutting board
- Sharp knife (adult needed)
- Vegetable peeler
- Measuring spoons
- Mixing spoon
- Baking sheet
- Pot holders
Ingredients
- 1 head broccoli
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1⁄2 teaspoon kosher salt
- grated parmesan cheese
- lemon, quartered
Instructions
- Turn the oven on and set the heat to 500 degrees.
- Using a sharp knife, separate broccoli into bite-size florets (the curly part) and stems.
- Using a vegetable peeler, remove the stalks’ outer peels and cut the stalks into 2-3 inch pieces. Put the florets and peeled stems on a baking sheet.
- Add olive oil and salt and mix well.
- Once the oven temperature has reached 500 degrees, put the baking sheet in the oven and bake until the broccoli is lightly browned, about 10 minutes.
- Take the sheet out of the oven. If you like, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese or lemon juice — or both.
