Anything-Salad Sandwich Filling
Here’s a versatile and creamy dressing that you can turn into one of three sandwich fillings! Will it be chickpea salad, egg salad, or tuna salad? Try them all to find your favorite!

- Cutting board
- Sharp knife (adult needed)
- Measuring spoons
- Medium Bowl
- Can opener
- Colander or strainer
- Potato masher or fork
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp vegetable or olive oil
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt
- 1 celery stalk, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp mustard (any kind you like)
- 2 scallions, roots trimmed off, green and white parts thinly sliced (or 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion)
- 2 tbsp relish or finely chopped pickles
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Put all the ingredients in the bowl and mix well.
- Add one of the following: 1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, drained, rinsed, and coarsely mashed with the potato masher or fork.4 hard-cooked eggs, peeled and chopped or mashed with the potato masher or fork.2 (5-ounce) cans tuna (any kind you like), drained.
- Mix well. Use right away in a sandwich or cover and refrigerate up to 2 days.
